Get involved
There are several ways to support our work, whether you have time to give, money to donate or a business that wants to help.
Volunteering
Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, from sorting food parcels to driving people to appointments and befriending someone who lives alone. Roles range from a couple of hours a week to occasional cover, so there is usually something to fit around work or family life.
Every volunteer completes an induction and, where the role involves contact with vulnerable people, a DBS check. We match people to roles based on their interests and the time they have available, rather than expecting everyone to fit the same mould.
Fundraising
Fundraising events run throughout the year, from a sponsored walk along the edge of Dartmoor to quiz nights and seasonal collections. Supporters can take part in an existing event or come to us with an idea of their own and we will help make it happen.
Money raised goes directly towards the programmes people rely on, such as food parcels, befriending and welfare advice, with no set target too small to make a difference.
Donating
One off and regular donations help us plan ahead and respond quickly when demand rises, such as during the winter months or school holidays. Donations of food, warm clothing and household basics are also welcome at our collection points across the area.
Every donation, large or small, is used locally and we are always happy to explain exactly where support goes if anyone would like to know.
Corporate support
Local businesses support us in a range of ways, from sponsoring an event to running a staff collection or offering practical help such as transport or storage space. Several of our longest standing partnerships started with a single conversation about what a business could offer.
We are happy to talk through options with any business interested in getting involved, whatever the size of the organisation or the type of support on offer.
