Bovey Tracey and Dartmoor
What to expect from the town and the moorland surrounding the site.
Bovey Tracey
Bovey Tracey sits within easy reach of the site and has a small supermarket, a bakery and a handful of independent shops, enough for most of what guests need during a stay. The town also has a weekly market and a few cafes worth a visit.
It is compact enough to explore on foot from the site and a footpath links the campsite directly to the edge of town without needing to walk along the road.
Walking onto Dartmoor
Several walking routes begin within a mile of the site gate, from a gentle woodland loop suited to families to longer routes across open moorland for more experienced walkers. We keep an up to date set of paper maps at reception, since signal on the moor is unreliable at best.
Dartmoor's weather can change quickly, so we always suggest telling reception roughly where you are heading and when you expect to be back, particularly on a longer walk.
