Volunteer drivers are at the heart of how we get food parcels and other support to people who cannot easily travel themselves. Roles range from a couple of hours a week to occasional cover, so it can fit around work or family life.
New drivers complete a short induction covering safeguarding, confidentiality and basic vehicle checks, along with a DBS check where the role involves contact with vulnerable people. Mileage costs are covered, so volunteering should never leave anyone out of pocket.
Many of our drivers say the role gives them a chance to see the difference their time makes directly, often chatting to the people they deliver to and getting to know regular faces along their route.
