About Example Tuition
We are a small team of subject specialist tutors covering GCSE and A level subjects across South Devon. Every tutor is DBS checked and teaches the subject they studied themselves.
Example Tuition started with one tutor working with a handful of local families and has grown through recommendation rather than advertising. We have kept the same approach throughout: match the pupil with the right tutor, teach to the specification they actually sit and keep parents informed without overwhelming them with reports.
Every tutor on our books is DBS checked and holds a relevant degree in the subject they teach and new tutors are only taken on after a trial session with an existing pupil. We would rather stay a manageable size and know every tutor personally than expand beyond what we can properly oversee.
Most of our work happens in Newton Abbot, Teignmouth and the surrounding towns, either in the pupil's home or online. We work with schools where useful, but we are independent of any school and set our own approach based on what each pupil needs.
What you can expect from us
Specification led teaching
Tutors teach the pupil's actual exam board and specification, not a generic version of the subject.
Safeguarding first
All tutors are DBS checked and sessions with under eighteens follow a clear safeguarding policy.
Honest progress updates
Parents get straightforward feedback on what is going well and what still needs work, not vague reassurance.
