The women's team was formed only a few years ago from a small group of friends who wanted a regular game and few at the club expected an early push for silverware. A strong run of results through the winter changed that.
Consistent training numbers and a settled squad meant the team avoided the injury and availability problems that affected some of their rivals and a late season unbeaten run secured the league title with two matches still to play.
The title has already helped attract new players to training and the coaching team hope to build a second squad soon so that more local women have the chance to play regularly.
