Traditional country pub serving proper food alongside a well kept range of ales
We keep open fires burning through winter, a beer garden for summer evenings and a kitchen that cooks everything from scratch. There's always a table, for a quick pint after work or a full Sunday lunch with the family.

Read moreHow a struggling village local became a destination for food
When we took the pub on it had a loyal but ageing regular crowd and a kitchen that hadn't changed its menu in years. We kept what worked, including the open fires and the quiz night and rebuilt the food offer from the ground up around fresh, seasonal ingredients rather than anything that arrived frozen.
We buy meat, fish and vegetables from suppliers across South Devon wherever the volume and consistency allow it and we've built relationships with a butcher, a fishmonger and a handful of small growers over the years. It costs more than buying everything through a single wholesaler, but the difference shows on the plate.
Stories from the pub
Quiz night every Thursday
Our quiz has run every Thursday for years and pulls in teams from right across the village and beyond.
Village beer festival
Each summer we take over the beer garden for a weekend and bring in guest ales from across the region.
Sunday lunch goes fully local
We spent a year moving our Sunday roast suppliers closer to home and now almost everything on the plate comes from within a few miles.
