About Example Boarding Kennels & Cattery
Example Boarding Kennels & Cattery has been run by the same family for two decades on the edge of Dartmoor. We built the site around separate, purpose designed spaces for dogs and cats rather than a shared block.
The kennels started as a small operation with six runs and grew gradually as demand from local vets and word of mouth increased. Growth has always followed the same principle: no expansion until we are confident we can maintain the same standard of care for every animal already in our books.
We are licensed by the local authority under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018 and inspected annually, with our licence conditions covering everything from kennel size to staff ratios. Staff numbers are kept well above the minimum required, since a quiet, unhurried shift is a safer one for the animals in our care.
Every stay starts with a detailed conversation about routine, temperament and any medical needs, recorded and referred to throughout the visit. We would rather ask what might feel like too many questions at booking than get something wrong once a pet is in our care.

Dogs and cats are kept in entirely separate buildings, out of sight and earshot of each other.
