A software company in Exeter had grown from three founders to a team of twelve within two years, with no formal HR policies in place beyond a basic contract template. As the team grew, the founders realised they needed proper structure before an issue arose that they weren't prepared to handle.
We built a full set of policies and a staff handbook from scratch, alongside updated contracts of employment that reflected how the business actually operated, including flexible working arrangements the founders wanted to offer. We also set up a simple, consistent recruitment process ready for their next round of hiring.
The founders now have a proper framework in place as the business continues to grow, rather than trying to build policies reactively once a problem has already occurred. They've since used the recruitment process to bring in another four members of staff with far more confidence than before.
