A cold snap caused a pipe to split in the loft of a Dawlish bungalow, sending water through the ceiling of a bedroom below. The homeowners called our emergency line on Christmas Eve morning, understandably worried about the damage.
Our engineer isolated the supply within half an hour of arriving, stopping any further water getting into the property. The damaged section of pipe was identified, cut out and replaced, with the loft insulated further to reduce the risk of it happening again.
The heating and hot water were back up and running well before the family sat down for their Christmas Eve dinner. We followed up in the new year to check the repair and offer advice on protecting the pipework through future cold spells.
