About Example Jewellers
Example Jewellers has traded from the same shop in Kingsbridge since 2005, with a working goldsmith's bench behind the counter rather than off site.
The shop was set up by a goldsmith who trained in London before returning to Devon to start a business built around making and repairing jewellery on site rather than simply selling it. That workshop has stayed at the heart of the business ever since and most repairs and commissions are still carried out within a few feet of where customers stand at the counter.
Over the years the team has grown to include several qualified goldsmiths and a valuer, allowing the shop to offer everything from a quick repair to a fully made to order engagement ring without sending work elsewhere. We deal directly with diamond and gemstone suppliers rather than through a chain, which keeps sourcing transparent.
Much of the work now comes through word of mouth and repeat customers, including families who have returned across several generations for engagement rings, christening gifts and eventually repairs on pieces originally bought decades earlier. That continuity is something we are proud of and try to protect as the shop has grown.
