Modern consumer units fitted to bring older installations up to current standards.
An old fuse box without modern circuit breakers is one of the most common issues we find during inspections. Upgrading to a modern consumer unit with proper protection reduces the risk of electric shock and fire and is often flagged as a priority on an inspection report.
We assess the existing circuits before recommending a new unit, checking that everything is labelled correctly and wired to current regulations rather than simply swapping the box. Any circuits that need attention are picked up as part of the same visit.
The work is usually completed within a day, with a short period without power while the changeover happens. We test the whole installation afterwards and issue the relevant certificate.
